Marvin Peterson, 89, died Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, at Abington on Grand in Ames. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, at Becker Funeral Home in Jewell.

Marvin Peterson was born March 16, 1919, in Jewell, to Anton and Ida (Sundsbo) Peterson. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell. He married Madeline Stauffer June 14, 1959, at Bethesda Lutheran Church. They farmed until retirement. He was a lifelong member of Bethesda Lutheran Church.

He is survived by two sisters, Ina (Lee) Sabby, of Valley City, N.D., and Naomi Sabby, of Estherville; four brothers, Arling (Ruth) Peterson, of Ellsworth, the Rev. Stanley (Marlys) Peterson, of Hampton, Robert (Pat) Peterson and Sterling (Bette) Peterson, and one sister-in-law, June Peterson, all of Jewell. He also is survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Madeline, in 2006; one brother, Leslie, in 2006; and one brother-in-law, Lloyd Sabby.

Memorials may be given to Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell.
