E. C. Wilkinson, Civil War Veteran, Dies at Home Here

E. C. Wilkinson, Civil war veteran, died at his home, 327 Sixth street, at 9:30 a.m., today following an illness of several months.
Miss Cora Wilkinson of Ames, a daughter, is the only surviving near relative.
Mr. Wilkinson was born in 1841. He enlisted in company H, Eighth regiment, Iowa volunteer infantry, January 27, 1865, and was discharged January 27, 1866. He was not demobilized until late, being held to guard cotton stocks seized from the rebels. He served in the eight-day battle of the Spanish fort at the rear of Mobile, Ala.
