John Carr Andrew, 92, formerly of Colo, died on Monday, October 27, 2008 at his daughter's home in Bondurant. Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 30 at the Colo United Methodist Church with Pastor Lewis Flanigan officiating. Burial will follow in the Colo Cemetery.
John was born on May 5, 1916 in Grant Township, Story County to Francis Edward and Sarah Jane (Smith) Andrew. John moved to Colo in 1937 where he met Pauline Annis Jay. On January 27, 1939 John married Pauline in Kirksville, MO. They were together for 69+ years until her passing on May 10 of this year. John and Pauline resided on the farm outside of town until 1962 when they moved into Colo. They moved to Bondurant in 2004.
John loved the land and was a farmer. He retired from the DOT in 1981. John was a member of the Colo First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved spending time with his family.John is survived by a son, John Andrew (Judy Ann) of Cambridge; 6 daughters, Janet Maas (Alan) of Cedar Rapids, Sally Donald (Ron) of Van Horne, IA, Jean Donald (Jim) of Weatherford, TX, Judy Kaye Andrew of Nevada, Debra Stitt (John) of Ft. Collins, CO, and Tammy Spencer (Mike) of Bondurant; 13 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; a brother, Donald Eugene Andrew of Des Moines; and a sister, Shirley Lou (Andrew) Holland of Collins.
John was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Pauline, a grandson Myron Benjamin Andrew, 2 sisters, Margaret Alice Lloyd and Betty Jane Abrahamson and 4 brothers Francis Howard Andrew, Carl Bernard Andrew, Richard Smith Andrew, and Galen Edward Andrew.Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 29 with the family present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Chet Ryan Mortuary, 708 Fifth Street in Nevada.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in John's name for the Iowa Conference United Methodist Camp.
