Lauren P. Hendrickson, 81, of Naples, Fla., died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008, at Georgeson Hospice House in Naples, Fla. A graveside service will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at St. Paul's Cemetery in rural Jewell.

Lauren was born June 6, 1927, in Story City, to Casper "Cap" and Stella (Quam) Hendrickson. He served our country with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during World War II. He farmed near Kamrar prior to moving to Naples, Fla., 20 years ago. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Naples.

He is survived by one daughter, Paula Teig, of Dubuque; one brother, David (Anita) Hendrickson, of St. Joseph, Mo.; three grandchildren, Scott (Kristi) Oberender, of Jewell, Jared Oberender, of Kamrar, and Christopher Oberender, of Dubuque; two great-grandchildren, Deven Bevington and Dakota Oberender; and his longtime companion, Lizette Chaffin, of Naples, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Avow Hospice of Naples, Fla.

Soderstrum Funeral Home of Story City is in charge of arrangements.
