John Carr Andrew, 92, formerly of Colo, died Monday, Oct. 27, 2008, at his daughter's home in Bondurant. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, at Colo United Methodist Church, with Pastor Lewis Flanigan officiating. Burial will be in Colo Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, at Chet Ryan Mortuary, 708 Fifth St., in Nevada.
John was born May 5, 1916, in Grant Township, Story County, to Francis Edward and Sarah Jane (Smith) Andrew. He moved to Colo in 1937 where he met Pauline Annis Jay. On Jan. 27, 1939, he married Pauline in Kirksville, Mo. They were together for 69-plus years until her passing on May 10, 2008. They resided on the farm outside of town until 1962 when they moved into Colo. They moved to Bondurant in 2004.
He loved the land and was a farmer. He retired from the Department of Transportation in 1981. He was a member of Colo First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by one son, John (Judy Ann) Andrew, of Cambridge; six daughters, Janet (Alan) Maas, of Cedar Rapids, Sally (Ron) Donald, of Van Horne, Jean (Jim) Donald, of Weatherford, Texas, Judy Kaye Andrew, of Nevada, Debra (John) Stitt, of Fort Collins, Colo., and Tammy (Mike) Spencer, of Bondurant; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one brother, Donald Eugene Andrew, of Des Moines; and one sister, Shirley Lou (Andrew) Holland, of Collins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Pauline; one grandson, Myron Benjamin Andrew; two sisters, Margaret Alice Lloyd and Betty Jane Abrahamson; and four brothers, Francis Howard Andrew, Carl Bernard Andrew, Richard Smith Andrew and Galen Edward Andrew.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in John's name for the Iowa Conference United Methodist Camp.
