Steven J. Romsey, 60, of Gilbert, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Services will be held Thursday, Oct. 23 at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City with the Rev. Stephen Anenson officiating. Burial will be in the Gilbert Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 22 at Immanuel Church from 5 - 8 p.m.

Steven J. Romsey was born Feb. 6, 1948 in Ames, to Joseph "Joe" and Frankie Romsey. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He worked for Friedrich Construction until he joined his father in farming in 1973.
On July 25, 1975 he was united in marriage with Sharon Heggen.

Steven enjoyed boating with his family, especially on the Lake of the Ozarks. In the winter he was involved in snow removal in the Gilbert and Ames area. He was a trustee at Immanuel Lutheran Church and served on several committees at the Gilbert schools.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon of Gilbert; mother, Frankie Romsey of Story City; sons, Eric (Amy) of Downers Grover, Illinois and Beau Romsey of Gilbert; sisters, Susan (Gary) Uthe of rural Story City and Kris Crawford of Story City; and grandchildren Joey and Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his father.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name.
