Wesley Thomas Poppe, 24, of Iowa City, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2008, at his home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 27, at the United Methodist Church in Colo.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada.
Wes was born Nov. 9, 1983, in Union City, Tenn., the son of Thomas Lawrence and Yvonne "Bonnie" (Kizer) Poppe. He was employed by Subway as a restaurant worker. He was affiliated with the Nevada Assembly of God Church, loved people, and enjoyed fishing and snow skiing.
He is survived by his parents, Thomas and Yvonne "Bonnie" Poppe, of Colo; one son, Peyton Christopher Bales, of Ames; two sisters, Candace Wismer, of Nevada, and Keesha Webster, of Boone; two nieces; three nephews; and his paternal grandmother, Aylo (Poppe) Bell, of Coggon.
Preceding him in death were both grandfathers; his maternal grandmother; and one uncle, John Poppe.Memorials may be given to the Wes Poppe Memorial Fund.
Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
