Minnie Beatrice Parker, 94, of Bakersfield, Calif., died Monday, Oct. 20, 2008. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 27, at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3700 River Blvd., in Bakersfield, Calif.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Minnie was born July 13, 1914, in Huxley, the daughter of Severyn and Boletta Nagel. Minnie was raised in Iowa and graduated from Huxley High School, where she loved playing basketball. She also worked on her parents' farm, where she met her husband, Harry E. Parker. In 1952, with three children, Minnie and Harry packed up and moved to Bakersfield, Calif., where they worked and raised their family.
She was a member of St. Mark's Methodist Church and the Sons of Norway. She loved to crochet, quilt, plant flowers, and spend time with her friends and family, talking over coffee and her homemade cookies. She was an extraordinary, unpretentious woman and loved by everyone.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Vickie Parker; her daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Don Jones, and Sandy and Weldon Sons; her sister, Blanche Golay; her grandchildren (and spouses), Dean Boller (Kim), Jason Boller, Connie Jones, Jeff Jones (Kim), Katie Koutsoulis (Nasi), Michelle Reis (Ed), Lesley Foster (Nick), and Steve and John Miller; her 10 great-grandchildren; and extended friends and family in Bakersfield and Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry E. Parker.
