Blanche R. Dodds, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dodds, was born Feb. 11th, 1873 in Story county, Iowa, and married Dec. 23, 1896 by E. M. Holmes, D.D. to Rev. J. F. Hunter. To this union were born two children, Ethel Marie and Merrill D. She united with the M. E. church at the age of fifteen to which she remained a faithful, consistent member until the time of her death. Her life's work was done nobly and sweetly. She was a kind, loving and unselfish friend, daughter, sister, wife and mother and wrote her name in deeds of kindness and words of love on the hearts of all who knew her. She ever gave testimony to the assurance that her name was written in the Lambs Book of Life. She battled bravely for life until the struggle was in vain and then sweetly submitted to the will of God saying, "It is better to depart and be with Jesus." She died in the triumph of her living faith saying, "There is no darkness, no dread, nothing to fear my anchor holds" and with a smile of heaven on her face she fell asleep in Jesus April 1, 1904. She leaves beside the bereaved husband a father and mother, two little children, Ethel and Merrill; six brothers, Bert Dodds of Ortonville, Minnesota; Roscoe of Chokio, Minnesota; Clarence of Briton, South Dakota, and Irie, George, Harvey living near Gilbert, and two sisters, Miss Ethel Dodds of Gilbert and Mrs. Frank Morris of this city. The funeral services were conducted in the Pleasant Grove church Monday, April 4, at 2 o'clock by Rev. Andrew M. Shea of the M. E. church. The remains were laid to rest in the Pleasant Grove cemetery.
