THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, October 7, 2008.

Lois Sanderson, 82, of Beaman, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008, at her home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, with Pastor David Burling of Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada officiating. Private burial will be Thursday, Oct. 9, in Oakland Cemetery in Beaman.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, at the funeral home.

Lois Lindaman was born Jan. 26, 1926, in Wellsburg, the daughter of William and Ida (Riebkes) Lindaman. She graduated from the Wellsburg High School's Class of 1943, followed by a year of nursing school. She resided in Washington, D.C., at the age of 19, working for the FBI. Mrs. Sanderson lived the past 17 years with her son, Ricky, at Beaman, and from 1978 to 1991 in Chicago working at MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn. She also worked at the Beaman Library. In the late 1960s, she worked at MACH in the OB department. She treasured her family, was compassionate and very generous; she always had an extra setting for dinner for anyone.

On Feb. 15, 1948, she married Marvin Eldon Sanderson in Wellsburg. They farmed near Beaman, and though they parted later in life, they remained friends that were blessed by 10 children, including Jerry (Linda), of Liscomb, Kenny (Lori), of Gladbrook, Barb (Jim) Croxdale, of Ames, Bobby (Joni), of Beaman, Ricky, of Beaman, LeeAnn Switzer (Scott Bittner), of Union, Gary (Sergio Quinonez Montaldo), of Iowa City, Denny (Lynnette), of Beaman, Linda (Curt) Hoff, of Nevada, and Lori Budziak, of Aurora, Colo.; 23 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Arlene (Dale) Heetland, of Ackley, and Marjorie (Richard) Sweet, of Waterloo; sisters-in-law, Betty Lindaman, of Tulsa, Okla., and Ruth (John) Glessner, of Conrad; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

In death, she has rejoined her parents; brother, Alvin; and former husband and father of her children, Marvin, who died Jan. 20, 1991.
