THE STORY CITY HERALD, Story City, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, August 27, 2008.

Alice Lillian Guhl, 99, of Story City passed away at Bethany Manor in Story City on August 16, 2008. Funeral services were held Saturday, August 23, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at Bethany Manor Chapel in Story City. Burial followed the service in Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell. Visitation was one hour prior to the service.

Alice Lillian Guhl was born March 14, 1909, in Vincent, Iowa to Albert and Anna Wilson Guhl. Lillian (she always used her middle name) graduated from Jewell High School in 1927. She worked at her parents' grocery store and restaurant. After working at Donnelley's in Nevada for 20 years, she moved to Des Moines and was employed at the State Veterinarian's Office from 1951 to 1964.

Lillian moved to the Bergengreen Apartments in Story City in 1975. She later moved to Cedar Place and then to Bethany Manor. For a time, all four sisters resided at Bethany Manor.

Surviving is her dear sister-in-law, Dorothy Guhl, who visited often and took care of many of her needs. Lillian was a very special aunt, and she is survived by fourteen nieces and nephews who loved her very much.

Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Otto, Albert, George, and Clarence Guhl, and three sisters, Emma Isvik, Alma Thorsbakken, and Mildred Heggen.
