MRS. ANNA GROVE DIES AT ROLAND

ROLAND - One of the pioneers of the Roland community, Mrs. Anna Grove, 88, who came to this vicinity in a covered wagon 73 years ago and was one of the founders of the Salem church here, died at noon Monday at the home of her son Martin. No funeral arrangements have been made.

Mrs. Grove was born in Norway but came to this country and settled at Lisbon, Ill., with her parents when she was five years of age. When Mrs. Grove was 15 her parents moved to Roland. All of her life Mrs. Grove was a faithful member of the Salem church and a leader in community affairs. She is believed to have been the oldest living pioneer of the neighborhood.

Besides her son, Martin, with whom she has made her home of recent years, two sons, Oscar of Roland, and Edward R. of Ames; and two daughters, Mrs. K. P. Teig of Roland, and Mrs. Earl McCord of McCallsburg, survive.

One daughter, Lorenda, died about a year ago.
