OSCAR MATHEWS DIES AT CALIFORNIA HOME
Oscar Mathews, 69. former Story county resident and brother of Mrs. E. A. Mason, 1803 Duff avenue, Ames, died at his home in Orange, Calif., Monday morning of acute indigestion. No funeral arrangements have been made but services and burial will be at Orange.
Mr. Mathews was a farmer near Shipley until about 20 years ago when he sold out and moved to California. He has visited Story county nearly every summer since moving west.
Besides his sister, Mr. Mathews has five nieces living in Ames. They are: Mrs. F. E. Allen, Mrs. Bert Kooser, Mrs. Ward Moore, Mrs. Ben Keltner and Mrs. J. Allen. A sister-in-law, Mrs. Wilbur Mathews, also lives in Ames.
Mrs. Mason, who makes her home with her niece, Mrs. Bert Kooser, is the last member of the original Mathews family which were prominent pioneers of Story county.
Besides his wife, two daughters survive. They are Mrs. Leo Armstrong of Ames, who is now in California, and Mrs. Edna Lovell, who lives in California.

Mrs. J. H, Allen received the news Monday morning of the death of her uncle, Oscar Mathews who died very suddenly of acute indigestion at his home at Orange, Cal., Monday morning. She also received the news of the death of her cousin's wife, Mrs. Harry Mathews who died Monday morning of pneumonia at her home at Sious City. The latter's husband is a nephew of Oscar Mathews. Mrs. Harry Mathews is a sister of Mrs. Lee Coffman of south of Ames.
