Fred Brown, Former Sheldahl Man, Dies

SHELDAHL, Jan. 3, - Fred Brown, 38, of Jackson, Minn., former resident of the Sheldahl community, died at a Jackson hospital Wednesday following an operation for acute appendicitis performed Sunday. Funeral services were held at Jackson, Minn., today. A local service will be held Sunday at the Lincoln church at Slater. Burial will be in the Slater cemetery.

Fred Brown was a son of J. R. Brown of west of Sheldah. His mother died July 14, 1929. He was born north of Slater, moved to a farm between Sheldahl and Madrid and then to a farm near Jackson, Minn.

Eight sisters and six brothers survive. Most of them live in Minnesota.

Fred Brown Rites Are Held at Slater

SLATER, Jan. 9, - Funeral services were held Monday at Slater for Fred Brown, 38, Jackson, Minn., who died in a hospital at Mountain Lake, Minn., last Thursday, following an operation for appendicitis. Interment was in the Slater cemetery. The services were conducted by the Rev. A. M. Mannes of Jackson assisted by the Rev. E. Duea of Dows.

Mr. Brown was born on a farm three miles southwest of Slater. Since 1916 he lived on a farm near Jackson, Minn.

Seven sisters and six brothers survive, all of whom attended the services. They are: Mrs. Esther Tiegen of Jackson, Minn.; Mrs. Margaret Herlund, Mrs. Anna Weeks and Miss Mabel Brown, all of Slater; Carrie Ruth and Beulah of Madrid; Howard and Joe of Jackson, Minn.; Oscar of Petersburg; Jack of Des Moines, and Earl and Thomas of Madrid.
