Lawrence C. Skortman died Monday, July 28, 2008, in Lakewood, Calif. Graveside services were Thursday, July 31, at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, Calif. Memorial services were Friday, Aug. 1, at First United Methodist Church in Lakewood, Calif.

Larry was born Jan. 7, 1915, in Slater, Iowa.

He is survived by his sons, Kent, of Lakewood, Calif., and Craig and his wife, Stephanie, of Eugene, Ore.; two grandchildren, Nathan and Melissa; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Charles D. Skortman and his wife, Gaynel, of Laguna Hills, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Mae (Clark), and his parents, Charles and Anna Skortman, of Slater.
