Ruby Thacker, 72, of Huxley, died Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

Services were held Monday, Aug. 4, at the Slater United Methodist Church with Pastor Emily Allen officiating. Burial was in the Palestine Cemetery.

She was born in Boone on June 27, 1936, to Benjamin and Muriel (Bracci) Thacker. She was employed as a certified nursing assistant. Ruby enjoyed flower gardening, reading and birds, especially hummingbirds.

Survivors include three children, Lorna Thomas, Leona Bass and Bill (and Chris) Bass, all of Huxley; a brother, Stan Thacker of Boone; grandchildren: Stacey, Brandey (Joe), Joshua, Heather (Jerry), Ashlee, Kacy, Ben and Emily; great-granddaughter, Brianna; and a dog, Buffy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ken; a sister, Judy; a daughter-in-law, Wendy; and a sister-in-law, Gloria.

Memorials may be directed to Ankeny Christian Academy for tuition support for Joshua Bass, Ruby's grandson, and sent to Bill Bass, 106 Porch Light Drive, Huxley, IA 50124.
