Mona Rose Enabnit crossed over to be with her Heavenly Father on July, 20, 2008, at the age of 93, after a heroic battle with cancer.
Services were held Friday, July 25th at Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell.She was born in Cambridge, Iowa, August 16, 1914 and later moved with her family to Maxwell, Iowa where she attended high school. She is the oldest daughter of Henry James McPherson and Ethel Gathwell (Ballard) McPherson. She is the great, great, great granddaughter of Mormon Ballard, the co-founder of Story County, Iowa which was first settled by Mormon and his brother, Dan Ballard, in 1847.
Mona Rose was preceded in death by her sister, Colleen Lorraine McPherson. She leaves behind one daughter, Cean Jo (Enabnit) Wang and husband Dr. George Y. Wang and one grandson, Jason Karl Wang of Spokane, Washington.
After completing high school, Mona Rose and her family moved to Des Moines, Iowa where she later met and married Oliver Noble Enabnit. They were later divorced and she never re-married.
Mona Rose worked many jobs over the years in Des Moines. She told stories about them, one of the first being an usher in a theater and watching the famous fan dancer, Sally Rand, perform live on stage. She worked at Sears for many years as a retail clerk and at her cousin's restaurant "Stanton's on 6th Avenue." She also worked at the Imperial House Restaurant on Ingersol Avenue.
Mona Rose was involved in many functions at Grace Methodist Church in Des Moines. She loved her vegetable garden, her flowers and especially her red roses.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Horizon Hospice of Spokane, Washington.
Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory was in charge of arrangements.
