Andrew G. Hughes, 43, of Roland, passed away Thursday, July 24, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. An informal gathering of friends and family will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, at Harvest Evangelical Free Church in Story City.

Andrew Hughes was born on Nov. 6, 1964, in Port Jefferson, N.Y., to Bill and Madeline (DeWar) Hughes. He grew up in New York and graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in electrical engineering. He married Kere Pond Aug. 17, 1991, in Colorado. He resided in Kansas City for 10 years and then Ames for four years prior to moving to Roland. He worked as a self-employed contractor.

He is survived by his parents, Bill Hughes, of New York and Madeline Hughes, of Texas; two sons, Drew and Dylan Hughes; their mother, Kere, of Roland; two sisters, Debbie, of Texas, and Patty, of New York; and one brother, Billy Hughes, of Texas.
