Carl B. Atkinson

May 14, 1911, to May 26, 1993

Carl B. Atkinson. 82, of Waterloo died of emphysema at Friendship Village Medical Center in Waterloo.

He was born in Maxwell to Sidney and Mabel Cheville Atkinson. He graduated from Collins High School in 1930. He married Nellie Kirkpatrick on Dec. 17, 1935, in Aledo, Ill. He was employed with the John Deere Product Engineering Center for 22 years, retiring in 1974.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Ruth Howard of Fort Collins, Colo.; two grandchildren; two great-grandsons; three brothers, Earle of Waterloo, Dale of Des Moines and Lowell of Rockaway, N. J.; three sisters. Ruth Huntrods of Collins, Mildred Dahl of San Jose, Calif., and Doris Elliott of Ames.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Atkinson.

Services wet e held May 29 at Parrott and Wood Funeral Home, Waterloo, with the Rev. Cathy Young officiating. Burial followed in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo.
