Mae Armstrong Passed Away
Mae Armstrong passed away at St. Joseph hospital in Phoenix, Arizona, at 10:40 a.m. last Sunday.
Services will be held at the Collins Methodist church on Friday, April 12, at 2 p. m. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery at Collins. Obituary will be published next week.
Mrs Armstrong is survived by her husband, Ralph, and two brothers, Merle M. Tubbs of Council Bluffs and Russell J. Tubbs of Des Moines.
Ralph Armstrong arrived in Des Moines. Wednesday morning. The body arrived on Thursday morning and will he brought. to the Armstrong residence Friday morning and will be taken to the Methodist church at about noon.
Obituary
Mae Viola Armstrong, daughter of Joseph M. Tubbs and Nellie Yount-Tubbs was born November 11th, 1892, at Lake City and lived there the first part of her life. She was married to J. R. Armstrong January 10th, 1920 at Lake City. They lived in Pomeroy where he was in the newspaper business and continued in that capacity in Manson, Long View, Washington, and Des Moines, coming to Collins in 1927 where they lived until 1956. In January of that year he disposed of the newspaper business and moved first to Colorado Springs Colo., and then to Phoenix, Ariz., for the betterment of his health. Mrs. Armstrong became ill and submitted to two serious operations, one February, 4th and again on the 6th. 1 She seemed recovered, then became worse and died April 7th.
She was a member of the Collins Methodist Church, The American Legion Auxiliary, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Eldeen and other social clubs.
Surviving her are her husband, two brothers Merle Tubbs of Council Bluffs and Russell Tubbs of Des Moines.
