Samuel Henry Angelo, son of Samuel Wescott and Rhoda Burwell Angelo, was born near Jacksonville, Ill., Dec. 7th, 1840 and died at his home near Burlington, Okl., April 16, 1913. He came to Iowa in March 1853 and settled with his parents in Polk county, near Des Moines. After a few years he moved to the farm near Peoria. He enlisted in the 23rd regiment of Iowa volunteers, Co. C. and served to the close of the civil war.

S. H. Angelo resided with his mother in Jasper county, Iowa, until April 15, 1868, when he was united in marriage to Minerva H. Wells and moved to Story county, near Collins where he lived until he moved to Alfalfa county, Oklahoma, near Burlington, in 1903, at which place he resided until his death. Mr. Angelo was a member of the Church of Christ, having been converted and baptized before the war, under the preaching of Rev. Roach, at Rising Sun, Iowa. He leave to mourn their loss, a wife, four children, twelve grandchildren, two sisters, and two brothers, and other relatives and friends. The funeral services were held at his late home on Saturday, April 19. The interment was at the Keith, Olk., cemetery.

The death of Henry Angelo is a keen thrust to many hearts in Collins. He was one of nature's noblemen. He had a high conception of life and lived close up to his ideals. To his neighbors and friends he was kind and considerate. The people of Collins and vicinity deeply sympathize with the bereaved wife and children.
