Archie Anderson, 77, of Ames, died Thursday, March 31, at Riverside Manor in Ames. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at first Evangelical Free Church in Ames, with the Rev. Terry Dezonia officiating.
Archie Anderson was born Nov. 3, 1927, in Ames, the son of Francis and Margaret Mary (Clapp) Anderson. He had lived in Ames most of his life. He served in the U.S. navy from 1945 to 1954. He married Lois Warren on June 6, 1948, in Ames. He retired as maintenance mechanic at the power plant and worked for the city of Ames for 33 years. He waas a member of Moose Lodge and Ames American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Lois of Ames; two daughers, Carol (Mike) Spencer of Ames and Sharon (Denzil) Acuff of Boone; two sons, Carl (Deb) Anderson of San Rafael, Calif., and Glenn (Mitzi) Anderson of Rochester, Ind.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Evelyn Holt of Georgia, Edith Geob of Story City, Betty Wiese of Nevada and Elsie Spade of Nevada; and one brother, Leonard (Sara) Anderson of Story City.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Earl.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Adams Funeral Home.
