Archie C. Osborn, 81, of Zearing, died of bone cancer on Sunday, Jan. 11 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.
He was born to G. Louis and Helen J. (Sevde) Osborn in Hamilton county on April 22, 1916. He graduated from Ames High School in 1934.
On March 16, 1947, he married Marcella Norem in McCallsburg. He worked as a farmer, and also worked in construction for J. D. Thompson & Sons, retiring in 1979. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He had lived in Ames for 40 years, in the McCallsburg-Zearing area for 40 years and in Hamilton County for one year. He was a member of the Stonebrook Community Church.
Survivors include his wife, Marcie of Zearing; five daughters Helen Wright of Ames, Marlene Tjernagel of Story City, Mary Birkentall of Mt. Holly, NJ, Karen Osborn and Norene Moyer, both of Tampa, Fla.; three sons, Harley of Ames, Gary of Elkhorn, Neb., and David of Ames; 18 grandchildren; a brother, Wayne of Ames; and a sister, Aileen Swanson of LuVerne.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services are being held today (Jan. 15) at Ascension Lutheran Church at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Milford Township in Story County. Adams Funeral Home in Ames handled arrangements.---from the Nevada Journal 1/15/98
