THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, June 25, 2008.
Harold E. Marshall, 89, of Ames, died Tuesday, June 24, at Bethany Manor in Story City. Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, June 28, at Bethany Manor Chapel in Story City, with Chaplain Sandy Anenson officiating and Mike VanPelt giving the eulogy. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 28, at Bethany Manor in Story City.
Harold Marshall was born June 22, 1919, in Boone, to Harold and Eva Marshall. He married Betty Pfunder June 16, 1936. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1943 to 1945. He retired from the Iowa Department of Transportation, where he was employed as a right-of-way agent. He was a member of American Legion Post 37. He enjoyed golf and was a skilled car mechanic and "tinkerer."
He is survived by his wife, Betty Marshall, of Story City; two grandsons, Jason (Jill) Marshall, of Apopka, Fla., and Kim (Rachael) Marshall, of Ankeny; great-granddaughter, Ella Eve Marshall, of Ankeny; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Marshall, of Ames; sister, Evelyn (Duane) Klute, of Ames; sister-in-law, Adrin Marshall, of Boone; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Harold F. "Chip" Marshall; and two brothers, Robert and Richard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association, c/o Deborah Dolan, First National Bank in Ames.
Stevens Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
