Lon Williams, 82, of 732 18th Street, Nevada, died Friday, July 27 at Story County Hospital in Nevada.
Born Jan. 31, 1897 in East Bend, North Carolina, to Jason and Nancy Williams, he married Emma Price Cornelius Feb. 22, 1920 in East Bend.
Williams lived in West Gate, Ia., rural Nevada and 723 18th Street in Nevada.
He farmed in Milford Township for 52 years, was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church, the Masonic Lodge and VFW Rainbow Div. He also served on the Milford Township School Board for 15 years.
Survivors include one son, Robert G. Williams of Nevada; two daughters, Mrs. Blanche Irene Cook of Ames and Mrs. Arlene Strassburger of Arlington Heights, Ill.; three brothers, Lee Williams of West Gate, and Rad and Robert of East Bend, N.C.; three sisters, Deliah Angell, Sally Ryan and Mrs. Earle Williams of East Bend, N.C.; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one daughter, Darlene Williams.
Services will be Monday, July 30 at 1:30 p.m. at the Central Presbyterian Church in Nevada, with Rev. Gehrald Riesen officiating. Burial will follow in Nevada Cemetery.
