Judy (Jacobson) Engen, M.D., died May 29 at her home in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was a longtime resident of Salt Lake City. In recent years, she served as medical director of Highland Ridge Hospital in Salt Lake City and then as director of the medical services division of the Utah state division of substance abuse.

Judy Engen was born Oct. 31, 1954, in Ames. She attended the University of Denver for her undergraduate studies, and received a master's degree from the University of Iowa. She was a certified family physician and addictionologist in Utah.

She is survived by her father, Norman Jacobson, of Ames, and by her brother, Gary Jacobson, of Sudbury, Mass.
