THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, June 17, 2008.

Sandra Custis, 48, of Story City, died Saturday, June 14, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, at United Church of Christ in Jewell. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the church.

Sandra Kay Sargent was born Dec. 14, 1959, in Webster City, to Willard S. and Sharon Kay (Santee) Sargent. She graduated from South Hamilton High School in 1978 and from the University of Northern Iowa in 1982 with a degree in elementary education. She married Douglas Glen Custis Nov. 28, 1992, in Jewell. She worked for Pella Corp. in Story City until they closed in March. She was a member of United Church of Christ in Jewell. She loved to sew.

She is survived by her husband, Doug, of Story City; her parents, Bill and Sherry Sargent, of Jewell; two brothers, Rodney Sargent, of Zearing, and Alan Sargent, of Jewell; one sister, Debbie Sargent, of Ames; and her mother-in-law, Judy Custis, of Greencastle, Ind.

Becker Funeral and Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.
