Ed T. Kooser died at his home on Northwestern avenue Tuesday afternoon, after an illness with heart trouble of the past several weeks. He was 60 yeas old.
He was born in Ames in 1876, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George T. Kooser, and spent his whole lifetime in Ames.
Ed Kooser took time to see the beautiful things in life. He was a painter and decorator; a gardener who grew lovely things and cared for them and exhibited them to his friends. He had the soul of an artist and enjoyed the simple virtues as exemplified in the things that nature so lavishly produced by his help.
Mr. Kooser was an authority on gladioli and spent much of his time in propagating these beautiful flowers, and served as member and president of several gladioli societies during his lifetime. He was affiliated with the local Methodist church.
He is survived by his wife; a son Edgar of Long Beach, Calif.; a daughter Margaret Iola of Ames, and four brothers, J. B., J. Burt, and Charles of this city, and Marcellus of Waterloo. A sister Mrs. T. B. Dodds of Clinton, Minn., also surives him.
Funeral services will be tomorrow (Friday) and burial will be in the Pleasant Grove cemetery northeast of Ames.
