Dorothy Martha Bielefeldt, 86, of Story City, died of heart failure Friday at Bethany Manor Nursing Home in Story City. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Grace United Methodist Church in Story City, with the Rev. Don Preston officiating. Burial will be in Roland Cemetery.
Dorothy Martha Bielefeldt was born in Milford Township, the daughter of George and Martha (Nitcher) Sowers. On June 6, 1935, she married Vere Bielefeldt, and they farmed together until 1975. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Story City. In her earlier years she was active in the Story County Farm Bureau. She served for many years as a 4-H leader, RYP advisor and Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the Nevada Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Story City Garden Club. She also served on the Roland Cemetery Board, volunteered with the Story City Senior Citizens and enjoyed singing in the Senior Citizen Choir.
Survivors include one son, Don Vere Bielefeldt of Roland; one daughter, Dona Ione Paulson of Forest City; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jeanette Peikert of Holmes Beach, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her husband and one brother.
Visitation is after 3 p.m. today, with the family present from 6:30 to 8, at Soderstrum-Larson Funeral Home in Story City.
