Laura E. Holen, 87, of Ames, died Sunday morning, March 9, at Bethany Manor in Story City.
She was the wife of Rev. Olaf Holen of Ames.
Mrs. Holen was born Feb. 8, 1893 at Brevick, Norway, the daughter of Oscar and Johnanne Anderson. She came to the United States in March of 1909 and lived for a time in Chicago. She attended Normal School in Madison, Minn.
On Jan. 7, 1915, she married Rev. Holen. The couple served congregations in Seattle and Tacoma, Wash., and Roland, Iowa. In 1957 they moved to Ames.
She is survived by her husband, one son, Borg Holen of Roland, three grandchldren and three great grandchildren, one sister and one brother.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 13 at the Bethany Manor Chapel with Rev. Enoch Hall officiating.
A second service will be held at 1:30 p.m. March 13 at Salem Lutheran Church, Roland, with Rev. Everett Nelson and Rev. Jordan Jacobson officiating. Burial will follow in the Roland Cemetery.
Friends may call at Soderstrum Funeral Home, Roland, from Wednesday morning till time of service.
