Funeral services for James B. McDonald will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 1, from Stevens Memorial Chapel. The Rev. John K. Moore of the First United Methodist Church will officiate, with burial in the Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Mr. McDonald, 93, longtime Ames area farmer, died June 28 in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
Friends may call at Stevens Memorial Chapel 3 - 9 p.m. Friday and until time of service Saturday.
Mr. McDonald was born Jan. 11, 1885, in Gilbert. He married Libbie Ellen Smalley Jan. 23, 1906, in Boone. He farmed northwest of Ames for 70 years and moved to Florida four years ago.
Survivors include his daughter, Ardath (Mrs. Norman) Linquist of Ft. Lauderdale; one brother, Roy McDonald of Ames; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Mr McDonald was preceded in death by his wife June 13, 1978; two daughters, Gladys VanScoy and Evelyn Crane; two sisters; and two brothers.---from the Ames Tribune
