Mervin B. Brooks, 58, rural Nevada, Iowa, died April 8, 1979 at the Story County Hospital, Nevada. He had been ill for several months.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, from Central Presbyterian Church, Nevada. The Rev. Gehard Riesen was in charge. Burial was in the Nevada Cemetery.
Mr. Brooks was born October 19, 1920, in Story County to David and Jennie Brooks. He married Virginia June Heitkamp on May 31, 1941 in Trenton, Missouri. Mr. Brooks was a farmer.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Ronald of Boone, Donald of Nevada, Loren of Brandon, Florida, and Kevin, a student at ISU; one daughter, Linda Lawrence of Nevada; two brothers, Lester and Virgil, both of Nevada, three sisters, Genevieve Myrland of Austin, Minnesota, Virginia Jacobson of Nevada and Isabelle Hillis, Story City; and six grandchildren.
