Elmars Dzenitis, 74, Roland, died Wednesday, March 11, 1981 at the Story City Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 14 at 1:30 p.m. from the Salem Lutheran Church, Roland. The Rev. Everett Nelson was in charge. Mrs. Robert Eischen, organist, accompanied Harris Twedt, Jr., as he sang "Thy Word is Like a Garden Lord" and "How Great thow Art." Latvian friends from Des Moines sang two songs in their native language.
Pallbearers were Borg Holen, Gene Stole, James Jacobson, Janis Dimza, Vilis Marins and Uris Zarins. Burial was at the Roland Cemetery.
Mr. Dzenitis was born March 18, 1906 in Latvia. He came to the United States in 1915. From 1955 to 1962 he operated a greenhouse in Nevada. In 1962 he opened the Roland Greenhouse and operated that one until 1980.
He is survived by one brother and several nieces and nephews in Latvia.
