Bertha Anna Stevenson, 88, Nevada, died Friday, Dec. 4, at Mary Greeley Hospital. Services will by at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, from Central Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Gehrald Riesen officiating. Burial will be in the Nevada Cemetery.
Bertha Menzel was born April 25, 1893, in McCallsburg to Charles and Anna (Stephens) Menzel. She attended a rural school south of McCallsburg. On June 11, 1913, she was married in her parents home near McCallsburg to William A. Stevenson. They farmed in the Milford Township community until 1947 when they retired and moved to Nevada. She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church, Nevada; Nevada American Legion Auxiliary and the Milford Club.
Survivors include a son Richard Stevenson, LaFayette, Calif.; a daughter Vera Tarman, Des Moines; two brothers, Earl Menzel, Zearing, and Lester Menzel, Nevada; a sister, Anna Marsh, Nevada; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, 1964; a son, Earl, 1939; a brother Frank; and two sisters, Sarah and Mabel.
