Kelley, June 14 - Herschel Toll, 9-year-old farm boy, is dead today as a result of a accident, while playing "cowboy." The lad was strangled to death when he became entangled in some straps with which he was playing and one of them circled his neck.
The lad was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Toll, living two miles west of here, over the line in Boone county and it was while at play that the fatal accident occurred. His sister Mary, 7, and brother Frayne 11, came upon the body, called the mother who in turn hurried the boy to a doctor, but it proved to be too late.
The funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 at the Congregational church at Kelley, with Rev. Roger Crabtree of Dana in charge.
The fatal accident was a most tragic one and the mother is prostrated with grief.
