MRS. MARY M. SOWERS DIES IN DES MOINES

Mrs. Mary M. Sowers, 77, sister of Mrs. Belle Ricketts of Ames and one of the pioneer residents of Story county, died at her home in Des Moines Monday after an illness of more than a month. The body was brought to Ames Monday night.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Adams chapel here. Burial will be in the Ames cemetery.
Mrs. Sowers is survived by six children, and a brother, John Smith of Fernald, besides the sister here. Her husband, Thomas J. Sowers died at Gilbert December 26, 1923. Mrs. Sowers was born in Ohio, December 28, 1852.
The surviving children include: Dorothy of Des Moines, George of Story City, Mrs. Alta Ballard of Winterset, Bert of Oakland, Cal., John of Woodland, Cal., and Mrs. Myrtle Gilmore of Los Angeles, Cal.
