Hazel L. Kelderhouse, 91, passed away early Tuesday morning May 6 at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. Visitation was held at the Collins United Methodist Church from 12:30 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. Graveside funeral services were held on Friday, May 9 at 2 P.M. at the Collins Evergreen Cemetery.
Hazel L. Kelderhouse was born on September 24, 1916 to Isaac and Agnes (Bowers) Coughenour of Colo, Iowa. She was baptized in the Christian faith and was a member of the United Methodist Church of Collins.
She received her education in the Colo community. On March 9, 1936, she was united in marriage to Everett Kelderhouse. They enjoyed many years of traveling together. They lived and farmed North of Collins, until November of 1969 when they retired from farming. Everett preceded her in death in 1992. She lived in Collins until moving to Marshalltown to live near her family in November of 1998. Her favorite activities were spending time with her family and reading.
She is survived by two children, Darlene (Gerald) Lura of Marshalltown and Larry (Eileen) Kelderhouse of Grand Island, New York, six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Violet Peterson, of Story City, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her daughter and son-in-law Elaine and Howard Schuler and two sisters and two brothers.
Fredregill Funeral Home in Collins, Iowa is handling the funeral arrangements.
