Ruth Marilyn Lowe, 81, of Maxwell, died Friday, May 2, in Omaha, Neb. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, at Maxwell Christian Church. Burial will be in Maxwell Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, at Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell. A prayer service will be at 8:30 p.m.
Marilyn was born Feb. 26, 1927, in Creston, the daughter of Sidney and Florence Dodge (Robinson) Lyon. She graduated from Creston High School in 1944, from Creston Junior College in 1946 and from Drake University in 1968. She married Hansel Lowe Aug. 17, 1947, at Little Brown Church in Nashua. He died in 1982. She was an elementary school teacher in the Maxwell Community Schools for 31 years. She retired in 1990. She was a member of Maxwell Christian Church, where she had served as a deaconess, the C.W.F., and was a charter member of the Monday Study Club of Maxwell. She enjoyed gardening, baking, singing, cross-stitching and doing crossword puzzles.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Kathy Wankum, of Marcus, and Barbara and Randy Tentinger, of La Vista, Neb.; four grandchildren, Kimberly and Mallory Wankum, of Marcus, and Amy and Mark Tentinger, of La Vista, Neb. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Sam Treichler, of Beaverton, Ore.; her brother and sister-in-law, Don and Carol Lyon, of Waukon; and her brother-in-law, Dick Milligan, of Maxwell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hansel Lowe; one brother, Allen Lyon; one sister, Priscilla Colson; and one son in-law, Ray Wankum.
Bacon Funeral Home of Maxwell is in charge of arrangements.
