Doris Smith, 76, of Nevada, died Saturday, April 26, at Story County Long Term Care in Nevada. Graveside memorial services and inurnment will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 2, in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Doris was born March 13, 1932, in Corydon, the daughter of Paul and Wilma (Brown) Hiatt. She had worked as an electronic assembler laying telegraph and telephone wire along the ocean floors and also as a cook. She was a member of the Methodist Church and the American Legion, where she enjoyed playing bingo. While living in California, she enjoyed showing people around Disneyland. She also loved going to flea markets.

She is survived by three brothers, Larry (Shirley) Hiatt, of Nevada, Paul Dean Hiatt, of Longbranch, N.J., and Roger (Marilyn) Hiatt, of Pittsburg, Mo.

Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory in Nevada is in charge of arrangements.
