Jacob Gilbert Lee, 82, of Huxley, died Sunday, April 27, at Madrid Home where he'd been lovingly cared for by family and staff since October 2006. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, at Fjeldberg Lutheran Church in Huxley, conducted by Chaplain Carla Werre. Burial will be in Fjeldberg Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 tonight at Fjeldberg Lutheran Church.
Jacob Gilbert Lee was born Aug. 23, 1925, in Whalan, Minn., to Gilbert T. and Ingeborg (Jenson) Lee. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Korea one year. He graduated from Waldorf College in 1950 and from St. Olaf College in 1952. He married Ruth Racek June 9, 1951. He worked in Kresge's manager training program in Sioux City and St. Joseph, Mo. They moved to the farm near Huxley in 1955 and to Huxley proper in 1991. He was a longtime, active member of Fjeldberg Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth, of Huxley; one daughter, Nancy (Michael) Farndale, of Forest City; three sons, Dr. Phillip (Jane), of Mason City, and Daniel (Lenice) and Paul (Pam) Lee, both of Huxley; one brother, David Lee, of Lanesboro, Minn.; 11 grandchildren, Matthew and Sarah Farndale, John, Mark and Daniel Lee, Laura, Melissa and Jenna Lee, and Hannah, Benjamin and Christopher Lee; two step-grandchildren, Elizabeth (Cody) Read and Alicia Turley; and two step-great- grandchildren, Kalysta and Alexis Read.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the church, Waldorf College and/or the Alzheimer's Association.
Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home in Slater is in charge of arrangements.
