PIONEER LADY BURIED FRIDAY
Mrs. Martha Waage, a pioneer lady of this community died at her home here Monday, January 28,[1918] following a short period of illness. She was almost 74 years old at the time of her death.
She was born in Kvinherre, Norway, on the 25th day of May, 1844. Came to this country in the early sixties, coming to Clinton county, Iowa. After a short sojourn there she came to Story county. In the year 1864 she was joined in marriage to Mr. Gert Waage. Shortly after marriage they located on a farm north of town, where they continued to make their residence until the year 1901, when they moved to Roland to live.
She leaves to mourn her loss, four daughters, Mrs. A. O. Mocklebust of McCallsburg, Mrs. P. A. Henderson of Lancaster, Minn., Mrs. W. H. Coop of Oakland, Cal., Mrs. D. G. Houston of Sylvana, Wash., and two sons, George Waage of Billings, Montana and Oliver Waage of Roland.
The funeral services were conducted from Bergens church Friday by her pastor, Rev. G. Smedal. Interment took place in the Roland cemetery.
All the children were present at these services with the exception of George Waage, who did not come.
