June 7, 1954-April 20, 2008

I was born Marla Denise Brendeland June 7, 1954, to Omar and Valerie Brendeland, of rural Huxley. I passed away April 20, 2008, from breast cancer. In 1976, I married Donald Dean Simmons Jr. In 1981, our daughter, Megan Jill Simmons, was born, and in 2005, we gained a son-in-law, Joe Russell. I have one brother, Merle Brendeland, and one sister, Janis Brendeland.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 24, at Palestine Lutheran Church in rural Huxley, with visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 23. Burial will be at a later date in Palestine Cemetery.

In addition to my immediate family, those joining me later will be my aunts and uncle, nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of friends whose memories have made my life so complete.

Please do not send me flowers. Send your money to the Des Moines affiliate of Susan G. Komen Organization or Palestine Lutheran Church.

Soderstrum Funeral Home in Slater is in charge of arrangements.
