Arlo H. Hagge, 100, of Cedar Rapids and formerly of Ames, died Tuesday, April 15. A funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 19, at All Saints Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 19, in the Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Arlo H. Hagge was born Dec. 1, 1907, on a farm near Westside, to Julius and Emma Hagge. He lived in Ames much of his adult life. He married Vera E. Kennard, of Decorah, in 1934. They had five children. Vera died in 1982. He married Jane L. Rice, of Cedar Rapids, in 1985.

He graduated from Iowa State College in 1935. He worked for 38 years for the USDA. He retired from federal service in 1969. He immediately became active in the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association and served as a local, state and national officer.

He was a member of the Phytopathology Society, the Plant Histology Society, the Entomology Society of America, the Iowa Academy of Science, Moose, the Iowa State Alumni Association, Cyclone Club, American Commons Fraternity, the Ames Bowling League, St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Cecilia churches in Ames, All Saints Church in Cedar Rapids, the Sigma Delta Honor Society of Agriculture and NARFE.

Survivors include his wife, Jane; son, David and his wife, Ann, of Franklin, N.C.; daughter, Nancy and her husband, Richard Woodley, of Dike; son, John and his wife, Judy, of Laporte, Minn., and Sun City Center, Fla.; daughter, Mary and her husband, Randall Ketelsen, of Bemidji, Minn.; daughter, Christine and her husband, Steven Pace, of Cedar Rapids; 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Joanne and Rod Dunnick, of Granbury, Texas, Barb and Jeff Trom, of Fairmont, N.D., and Doug Rice, of North Liberty.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to All Saints Church, 720 29th St. SE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52403, or the NARFE sponsored Alzheimer's Research Fund, 225 N. Michigan Ave., 17th Floor, Chicago, Ill. 60601-7644.

Stewart Funeral Home of Cedar Rapids is handling the arrangements.
