Theola "Ole" Peterson, 78, of Gilbert, died Saturday, April 12, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services were today, April 15, at Gilbert Lutheran Church in Gilbert. Burial was in South Saint Petri Cemetery near Gilbert.

Theola was born Oct. 29, 1929, in Radcliffe, to Bill and Hazel (Lunning) McGonigle. She was raised in the Jewell area and graduated from Jewell High School in 1947. She married Norman Peterson Oct. 12, 1954. They resided in Gilbert since 1967 where she worked as the branch manager at United Story Trust and Savings in Gilbert. She was a member of Gilbert Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her husband, Norman Peterson, of Gilbert; one daughter, Paulette (Clair) Urbain, of Fort Atkinson, Wis.; one son, Garrett Peterson, of Gilbert; one sister, Doris (Delbert) Fagerland, of Normal, Ill.; one brother, Allen (LuAnne) McGonigle, of Jewell; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, William Wentzel; one daughter, Susan Peterson; one son, Adrian Peterson; one brother, Bill McGonigle; and one sister, LaVonne Olson.

Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City is in charge of arrangements.
