Marie J. Baldus, 90, of Ames, died Saturday, April 12, under hospice care following a brief illness. A mass in celebration of her life will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 14 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Ames with Father Terry Rassmussen presiding. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Marie Baldus was born Nov. 21, 1917 in Toledo, Iowa, to Melvin and Edith (Breazeale) Turbett. She graduated from Toledo High School. She married Larry Baldus Aug. 18, 1937.

She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church and St. Gertrude's Circle. She enjoyed playing bridge and trips to casinos.

She is survived by two sons, Robert (Jane) Baldus, of Des Moines, and Jerry (Kay) Baldus, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; one daughter, Mary Kay Brooks, of Ames; 12 grand children; and 33 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters, two brothers; and one son-in-law, Bill Brooks.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 today at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Cecilia Catholic Church.
