THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, April 1, 2008.

March 28, 1925-March 30, 2008

Norman R. Granquist, 83, of Ames, died Sunday, March 30, at Union Park Health Care in Des Moines. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 3, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames.

Norman Granquist was born March 28, 1925, in Des Moines, to Nels and Alta (Cansdale) Granquist. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. He married Margaret Tottenham May 15, 1945, in Miami, Fla. They owned and operated NRG Lock and Key in Ames.

He was a man of many talents and a jack of all trades. Among his favorites were being a ventriloquist, magician and a locksmith.

He is survived by two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one niece; one nephew; and numerous other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one daughter, Judy Schatz; one grandson, Christopher Leaming; one sister, Anna See; and one brother, Leonard Granquist.
