Ronald R. Wooldridge, 71, of Ames, died Saturday, March 22, at Israel Family Hospice House. His life will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 27, at Stevens Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Kip Hamby presiding. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.

Ron Wooldridge was born March 19, 1937, in Tulsa, Okla., to Ernest and Inola Wooldridge. He married Marilyn Schubert Nov. 15, 1957, in Lawrence, Kan. After graduation from Baker University in Baldwin City, Kan., he worked as a state planner in Fayetteville, Ark., a city planner in Springfield, Mo., and then moved his family to Ames in 1970, where he worked as Ames director of planning. He retired from Story County Planning in 1998.

He will be missed by his wife of 50 years, Marilyn; his mother; his children, Cindy Hockett, of Boone, Shari (Kip) Hamby, of Ames, and Randy (Shelia) Wooldridge, of Austin, Texas; his grandchildren, Heidi Hockett, of Des Moines, Tina Hockett (Adam Banks), of Boone, Mollie Hockett, of Boone, Rachel (Amos) Greene, of Nevada, Rebekah (Matt) Johnson, of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Ruthann Hamby, of Ames, and Ryan Hamby, of Ames; and numerous family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father; one brother, Jerry; and his granddaughter, Allison Hockett Erb.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in care of Homeward Hospice.
