THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, March 11, 2008.

Aug. 26, 1935-March 9, 2008,

Wanda Lea Dickinson, 72, of Roland, went home to her heavenly father Sunday, March 9, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 13, in Zearing Christian Church sanctuary.

Wanda was born Aug. 26, 1935, in Ottumwa, to Paul Hoyt and Eithel Francis (Johnson) Gillispie. She was a graduate of Ottumwa High School. She met her soul mate, Jerry Dickinson, at a production of "Blythe Spirit" in Iowa City in 1960. They married Dec. 20, 1962, in Orange County, Calif.

An active member of Zearing Christian Church, she enjoyed church functions such as the live Nativity at Christmas, church fundraisers and social time. She was all about social time. She worked for many years at Casey's General Store in Roland and then at Anderson's Meat and Grocery, where she met practically everyone in town.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry, of Roland; children, Kerry Gillispie, of Roland, Tracey (Jeff) Bramble, of Ames, and Tammy (Joe) Ferrell, of Roland. Her grandchildren are Julia Ferrell, Margaret Sheesley, Ashley Bramble and Christel Bramble. Her furry feline children are Patches, Kit and Kat. She also is survived by four brothers, Forest Maynard (Cherie) Gillispie, of Ocala, Fla., Warren Richard (Pat) Gillispie, of Memphis, Tenn., Paul Hoyt (Jude) Gillispie, of Des Moines, and Dwayne Lynn Gillispie, of Florida; one sister-in-law, Karen Gillispie, of Iowa City; many nieces and nephews; and her best friend of nearly 40 years, Alta Mann.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, John Frank Gillispie; one sister, Virdie Marie Stuck; and one brother-in-law, Darrell Stuck.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Story County Animal Shelter in Nevada.

Soderstrum Funeral Home of Story City is in charge of arrangements.
