Helen Joann (Mittlestadt) Aldrich, of Ankeny and formerly of Cambridge, died Tuesday, March 4, of emphysema at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Visitation will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at Ankeny Funeral Home, 1510 W. First St., in Ankeny, with the memorial service immediately following at 3 p.m.
Helen was born April 5, 1929, in Cambridge, to Frank and Lillie Mittlestadt. Helen attended Cambridge School and married Glen Aldrich March 5, 1946. They had four children, Pam, Kay, Kelly and Glenda, and lived their married life in Cambridge. He died Oct. 8, 1993, and she moved to Ankeny shortly thereafter.
She will be remembered by all who knew her as a fun-loving person who would do anything for her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughters, Pam (Harlan) Slippy, of Ankeny, and Glenda Aldrich, of Huxley; one son, Kelly Aldrich, of Cambridge; four brothers, Clayton Mittlestadt and Herman Mittlestadt, both of Nevada, Jim Mittlestadt, of Romeo, Mich., and Jerry Mittestadt, of San Diego; four grandchildren, Glen Terrell, Kari Langer, Trista Fraser and Pammie Aldrich; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, June Aldrich; one brother, Ed Mittestadt; one daughter, Kay Terrell; and one granddaughter, Kristi Slippy.
