Clarice Berniece Bickelhaupt, 83 of Story City, passed away Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Story City. Burial followed at Center Cemetery, rural Story City.

Clarice Berniece Bickelhaupt was born Nov. 25, 1923 to Joseph and Isabell (Sansgaard) West in Hamilton County, Iowa. She was baptized in Dec. of 1923 and confirmed on June 5, 1938 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell. She graduated from Randall High School in 1941.

Clarice married Virgil H. Bickelhaupt April 10, 1949 in Jewell. They lived southwest of Story City until moving into town in 1979. Virgil passed away June 14, 1987.

Clarice was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Story City. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed gardening, flowers, and especially time spent with her family.

Survivors include one daughter, Diane (Jeff) Sherman of Urbandale; three sons, Dan Bickelhaupt of Story City, Harold (Roxanne) Bickelhaupt of Story City, and Jerry (Lynne) Bickelhaupt of Huxley; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Clarice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers; and two sisters.

Memorials may be given to Bethel Lutheran Church in Story City.
